Zilly Castle
Zilly Castle, a moated castle, rises in the Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt. Its origins date back to the early 14th century.
History+
The beginnings of Zilly Castle can be traced back to the early 14th century. The complex underwent a transformation starting in 1595, when Matthias von Oppen converted it into an agricultural model estate. In 1810, the castle was transferred into a Prussian domain. During the GDR era, the building fabric was reduced by demolitions. Since 1990, the surrounding districts have been committed to the preservation and renovation of the remaining buildings.
