Zündorf Castle, a structure in Cologne, is an example of medieval architecture. Originally built as a residential tower, it serves as a cultural hub.
History+
The origins of Zündorf Castle, specifically the Zündorf defensive tower, likely date back to the second half of the 13th century, when it served as a residential tower. In the 15th century, the complex played a role in the collection of the Rhine toll by the Duke of Berg. Following a fire in 1864, the tower was restored as a storage facility. Between 1975 and 1980, it underwent renovation based on designs by Gottfried Böhm.
