Oberholtorf Manor

The Burghof and the village of Oberholtorf ("Holtorp" - village by the forest) were first mentioned in a document in 1303. The farmstead, probably the predecessor building, was originally owned by the Lords of Löwenburg. It was later acquired by the Counts of Jülich and in 1513 passed as a fief to the Koblenz family von dem Burgthorn, who also gave the property its name. In the middle of the 18th century, the Burghof came into the possession of the von Hagen family as an inheritance. In 1973, the farm was acquired by the current host family Meyers.

Presumably, as can be seen from the external appearance of the Burghof, rubble stones were used in the construction of the barn, the stables and the residential house, which possibly came from the demolition of the hall church in Oberholtorf, built in the 9th century.

The residential house, which was severely damaged in the war, consists of wide rubble stone walls on the ground floor. The area of the first floor consists of half-timbering, which, however, was clad with grey fiberboards as a result of war damage. A half-timbered barn used to stand where the current machine hall is now, but it had to be demolished after a fire.
