Arberg Castle
Arberg Castle is a vanished motte-and-bailey castle (motte) immediately southeast of the church in Arberg (Schlossweg 21) in the district of Ansbach in Bavaria.
The castle was probably built in the 11th century by the Lords of Arberg and mentioned in 1229 with "H(einrich) de Arberch". In the 14th-15th century, it was the seat of the administrators (Pfleger) and treasurers (Kastner) of the Arberg office and later the Arberg-Ornbau administrative district. Around 1815, the castle was demolished.
Building fragments and wall remains still bear witness to the former round motte, which was protected by deep moats.
