Geschichte von Bischhausen+

Bischhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1160 as Bisopeshusen. The place was the residence of Wernher I von Bischofshausen, the founder of the noble family von Löwenstein. In the village there was a moated castle, of which today only a few wall remains are preserved near the Protestant church. The moats, once fed by the Schwalm, have been filled in.
