The Gruibingen Castle remains are a former spur castle. Its sparse remnants are located on a mountain spur above Gruibingen in the Göppingen district.

History+

Gruibingen Castle was probably built in the 13th century. A noble family, who named themselves after the castle, first appeared in documents in 1237. These Lords of Gruibingen served as seneschals to the Counts of Spitzenberg-Helfenstein in 1391. It is assumed that the castle was abandoned as early as the 14th century, as it is no longer mentioned in later documents.
