The Grumbach castle remains, a former spur castle, are located in the village of the same name in Rhineland-Palatinate.

History+

The first documented mention of Grumbach Castle dates back to 1242. At that time, it was owned by Wildgraf Konrad von Kyrburg, who pledged it as a fief to the Duke of Brabant. The complex remained in the possession of the Rhine Counts, successors to the Wild Counts, and formed the nucleus of an emerging settlement. Between 1575 and 1792, the complex, by then expanded into a castle, served as the residence of the ruling Wild and Rhine Counts. During this period, it hosted numerous personalities.
