The remains of the castle can be visited

Salzhofen Castle is the remains of a hilltop castle at 220 m above sea level on a steep mountain near Salzhof, 1750 meters south of the town church of Bretten in the district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg.

The castle was probably built in the 11th century by counts from Kraichgau. Excavations took place from 1933 to 1935. Of the former castle complex, the stump of the keep and remnants of the ramparts are still preserved.
