The Stolzenburg castle remains, a former hilltop castle, are located in Rhineland-Palatinate, in the Donnersbergkreis near the municipality of Bayerfeld-Steckweiler.

History+

The first documented mention of Stolzenburg dates back to 1256. It is assumed that Raugraf Konrad III from the Stolzenburg line of Raugraves was the builder of the complex. During the Dhaun Feud over Schmidtburg, the castle was briefly occupied by the Dhaun Wildgraf. With the extinction of the Stolzenburg Raugrave line in 1358, ownership passed to the Lords of Bolanden.
