Ullenburg Castle

The first documented mention of Ullenburg dates back to 1070. In the 15th century, the complex underwent extensive expansions and modifications. For a long time, the castle was owned by the Bishops of Strasbourg and the von Botzheim family. Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, the author of “Simplicissimus,” lived at Ullenburg as a castle administrator after the Thirty Years' War. It was destroyed in 1689, and in 1785, the remaining structure was demolished.
