The remains of the castle can be visited

The castle was built in the middle of the 13th century above the Scharflingerhöhe, which even then formed the border between Salzburg and Upper Austria. The area around Mondsee came from the Diocese of Regensburg to Salzburg in 1286, and the castle was probably built at that time.
