The remains of the Castle can be visited

The history of the castle dates back to the 9th century. In 878, King Karlmann gifted the Treffen estate to the Bavarian monastery of Ötting. This estate likely developed into the later castle over time. In the 10th century, Treffen came into the possession of the Diocese of Salzburg.
