Old Castle Lipporn
The castle ruin Alte Burg Lipporn lies on a rock spur above the Werkerbach Valley in Rhineland-Palatinate. This former spur castle was once the ancestral seat of noble families.
History+
Alte Burg Lipporn, sometimes also referred to as Burg Löpern, presumably served as the original ancestral seat of the forefathers of the Counts of Nassau in the 11th century. Its strategic position was crucial for securing trade routes in the region.

The ruin is located near Lipporn, a district of Nastätten in the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It stands at an altitude of approximately 336 meters above sea level at the end of a steep mountain spur.
On site+
Minor parts of a curtain wall and the foundations of a rectangular keep have been preserved. The castle ruin is open to the public.
