The Berneck Castle Ruin, also known as Tischneck Ruin, is a spur castle whose remains are located in the Berneck Valley near Schramberg-Tischneck in the Rottweil district of Baden-Württemberg.

History+

The history of Berneck Castle is only fragmentarily documented. It is known that it once belonged to the Lords of Falkenstein and Ramstein. Due to the use of bossed ashlar without clamp holes, its origin is presumed to be before 1230. Excavations carried out between 1960 and 1963 unearthed beaker tiles that could be dated to the period between 1250 and 1275. A layer of ash over the entire find layer indicates that the castle was destroyed by fire.
