Böbikon Castle
The Böbikon ruin is the ruin of a medieval hilltop castle in the municipality of Böbikon in the canton of Aargau.
Not much is known about the former castle. Based on archaeological investigations, its origin can be assumed to be around the year 1100. As the only member of a family "von Bebikon", an Erfridus is mentioned in a document in 1113. He could be the possible builder of the castle.
The original complex consisted of a curtain wall, within which a building could be identified. At the beginning of the 13th century, the castle was then rebuilt. The curtain wall had a pentagonal floor plan and a gate on the west side. On the mountain side was a tower with a floor plan of almost seven by seven meters. Nothing is known about the builders of this second castle, nor is it mentioned in any documents. Around the middle of the 13th century, the castle was abandoned and fell into disrepair.
