The castle ruin Conerow, an early German complex from the 13th century, is in the Wodarger Forest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

History+

The first documented mention of Conerow Castle dates back to 1248. Little is known about the original builders and owners, but members of the von Walsleben family are mentioned in records from 1473 and 1486. In 1642, Alexander von Walsleben acquired the Wodarg estate. The castle itself was once part of a larger complex, which also included a smaller settlement called Conerow, which fell into disuse in the 14th century, presumably as a result of armed conflicts between Mecklenburg and Pomeranian princes.

The castle ruin Conerow is located in Wodarg in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It lies at an elevation of approx. 8 m above sea level, in the Wodarger Forest, near a bend in the Tollense River.
