The Coraidelstein Castle Ruin, also known as Klotten Castle, stands above the Moselle in Rhineland-Palatinate. As a former hillside castle, it is now a destination for visitors keen to explore historical structures.

History+

Local tradition attributes the founding of Coraidelstein Castle to Count Palatine Hermann I in 960. However, the first reliable mention of Klotten Imperial Castle dates back to 1294, when it passed into the possession of the Archbishop of Trier. This transfer to Kurtrier was officially confirmed in 1346. A noble family of the same name can be traced even earlier. The castle was inhabited until 1830 before falling into ruin at an unknown point in time.
