The castle ruin of Deinsberg on a rock spur near Theisbergstegen in Rhineland-Palatinate offers an insight into the medieval history of the region.

History+

The exact construction date of Deinsberg Castle is unknown, but it is presumed to have been built as an imperial castle as early as the late 12th or early 13th century. Its function was to administer the imperial office of Deinsberg, the old name of the present-day village of Theisberg. In 1219, a ministerialis first appeared, naming himself after Deinsberg.
