The Dhronecken Castle Ruin, once a fortress, stands at approximately 383 meters above sea level in the municipality of Dhronecken. Despite multiple destructions, its remains are still present.

History+

The first documented mention of Dhronecken Castle occurred around 1300, when a knight Conrad von Tronecken was named. Shortly thereafter, the designation “Feste Troneck” appeared. From 1309, the castle served as the retirement residence for Friedrich Wildgraf von Kyrburg, the last Templar Provincial Master. In 1403, the Wildgrave's castle withstood a siege by the Elector of Trier.
