The Diepoldsburg castle ruin is a double castle above the Lautertal in Baden-Württemberg. Comprising the Upper Diepoldsburg and the Lower Diepoldsburg, also known as Burg Rauber.

History+

The construction of Diepoldsburg is attributed to the Knights of Diepholdsburg around the year 1210. As early as 1215, a “Ulrich de Diepoltsburc” is mentioned in documents as the owner. In the 16th century, the complex progressively fell into disrepair. Between 1964 and 1965, restoration work was carried out on the surrounding walls to preserve the structure. It earned its nickname “Burg Rauber” due to its presumed use as a robber knight's castle.
