The castle ruin of Dippach, once a modest moated castle, is picturesquely situated on the edge of the village of the same name in Bavaria. Although only parts of the complex remain today, it bears witness to the former presence of the lesser nobility in Franconia and offers an insight into regional architectural history.

History+

The small castle was originally owned by the Counts of Henneberg before passing to the Saxon Wettins. Feudal lords such as the Redwitz and Fuchs von Schweinshaupten families managed the estate. In 1665, the von Russwurm family acquired the property, which was sold on to the Lords von Hutten zu Birkenfeld in 1725. At the beginning of the 18th century, the residence was still in good condition.
