Durrës Castle (Kalaja e Durrësit)
The Durrës Castle Ruin, known in Albanian as Kalaja e Durrësit, is a historical structure in the city of Durrës, Albania. It represents the remnants of a fortification, with origins dating back to late antiquity.
History+
The original castle complex was constructed in the 5th century under the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Anastasius I Dicorus. The castle was largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1273.

The ruin is situated in the Albanian city of Durrës, which belongs to the district and region of Durrës. Its location at sea level, at an elevation of approximately 9 meters above sea level, makes it a feature in the cityscape.
