The Eberburg castle ruin, also known as Ebermannsdorf Castle, is the remnant of a hilltop castle above the municipality of Ebermannsdorf in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria. It was once the ancestral seat of the noble family of the Ebermannsdorfers and today houses the oldest preserved polygonal keep in Bavaria.

History+

The first mention of the Ebermannsdorfer family was in 1079. Documents from the Ensdorf Monastery from 1123 and 1129 name Razo and Wirnt von Ebermannsdorf and first mention a chapel called “St. John the Baptist” within the complex.
