Near Züttlingen, a district of Möckmühl in the Heilbronn district, lies the Erenstein Castle Ruin, a former spur castle.

History+

The first documented mention of Erenstein Castle dates back to 1258. It was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Ernstein, a family who were enfeoffed to the Lords of Dürn and later to the Lords of Weinsberg. This family was related to the early local nobility of Züttlingen and owned lands in the surrounding area. Around 1400, after the extinction of the Ernstein family, the castle passed through marriage to the Lords of Helmstatt and later to the Rüdt von Bödigheim.
