In Elsteraue-Könderitz-Etzoldshain in the Burgenlandkreis of Saxony-Anhalt is the Etzoldshain Castle Ruin, a relic of a moated castle with a distinctive keep.
History+
The first documented mention of Etzoldshain moated castle dates to 1415. Originally, the complex was surrounded by a moat and had a round shape. Most of the buildings fell into disrepair, so today only the central keep of the medieval fortification remains. The other structures on the site date from the 19th century.

Visitors can explore the Etzoldshain Castle Ruin. Of the original moated castle, the five-story, square keep has been preserved. This structure features a side length of 7.20 meters and two-meter-thick walls.
