Friedberg Castle
Friedberg Castle is a former castle located on the mountain above the church of the town of Oppenau in the Ortenau district in Baden-Württemberg. The castle ruin was converted into a residential house in the 20th century.
The castle was probably built in the 13th century by the administrators of Allerheiligen Monastery. In the 14th century, the castle was owned by the Bishops of Strasbourg.
The castle complex was a rectangular building with a round, elongated keep as a residential tower, of which remains are still preserved, surrounded by two large neck ditches, which are now built over by houses. The ruin is privately owned.
