The origins of Frundeck Castle are partly enigmatic, but its history can be traced back to the 14th century. In 1386, after the Battle of Sempach, the then castle complex was granted to a noble family from Switzerland. An arch stone found in the ground with the year 1335 and a damaged coat of arms suggests an even earlier construction or a modification.
