Gradenegg Castle

Gradenegg was first documented on May 27, 1192, when Rudlandus de Gradnich was attested as a ministerialis of the Duke of Carinthia. The complex included a Romanesque keep, supplemented by farm buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries. A three-story palas, originally from the first construction phase, was redesigned and expanded in the 16th century, being fitted with marble window and door frames. A 15th-century curtain wall with a small corner tower in the northeast protected the castle, whose northern access was secured by a deep neck ditch. Historian F. X.
