The remains of the castle can be visited

South of Reinhardtsgrimma, a district of Glashütte, the Grimmstein castle ruin is located on the Reinhardtsgrimmaer Heide ridge. Its remains show a former fortification.

History+

The origins of Grimmstein Castle are shrouded in legends, which speak of knights from Grimme. Archaeological investigations in the 1960s uncovered parts of the foundations of a smaller castle complex. It is believed that the destruction of the castle may be related to the demise of the Burgraviate of Dohna in 1402. On the occasion of Reinhardtsgrimma's 800th anniversary in 2006, an information board was placed on the Grimmstein.
