Hafnerburg Castle

Hafnerburg is a triple castle built by the Hafnerburgers. A "locus de Havenesprech" is already mentioned in a document from the 10th century. The Hafnerburgers were ministeriales of the Carinthian dukes. Nevertheless, Friedrich von Hafnerburg played a significant role in the uprising against the Meinhardiners in 1292 and in the capture of Duke Ludwig's son in St. Veit. However, he managed to escape punishment by fleeing, but lost his fief. Hafnerburg, however, seems to have already been destroyed at that time.

Reimbert von Eberstein and later the Liebenbergers were enfeoffed with the dominion. In the 16th century, the Peuscher von Leonstein held the old castle site and the Hafnerburg estate and claimed a castle immunity by presenting a deed of sale from 1490. With the consent of the pledge holder of Glanegg, Wilhelm von Ernau, they were granted a castle immunity. In 1638, Andrä Kheraus resided at Hafnerhof, around 1750 Franz Xaver Freiherr von Schluga, in 1797 Ignaz Nepomuck von Schluga, in 1802 Johann Montag, in 1807 Philipp Mayer, in 1832 Johann Mayer, and in 1855 Josef Pluch.
