The castle ruin of Hausen, a former spur castle of the Lords of Hausen, stands strikingly above the Danube Valley in Baden-Württemberg.

History+

The origins of Hausen Castle date back to the 11th century. It was first documented in 1094 as property of the noble family of Hausen. In 1209, the Ramsbergers adopted the name “Knights of Hausen” and expanded the complex. Further alterations and extensions followed in the 14th and 15th centuries. Until the death of Sixt von Hausen in 1549, the castle served as a noble residence. From 1648, the castle changed hands several times until it was demolished in 1813.
