The remains of the castle can be visited

West of Zell im Wiesental, in the Lörrach district, Baden-Württemberg, the Henschenberg castle ruin is on the mountain of the same name. This spur castle still preserves visible traces.

History+

The precise construction period of Henschenberg Castle is presumed to be in the 12th or 13th century, with more exact dates awaiting further archaeological excavations. Historical records concerning the castle are scarce. Surface finds of ceramic and tile fragments from the 14th and 15th centuries suggest that the complex was still inhabited around 1400.
