The Ruin can´t be visited
Heriboldisburg Castle
The Heriboldisburg ruin is the ruin of a high medieval spur castle above the Jagst valley on a mountain spur in Herbolzheim, a district of Neudenau in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was probably built in the 13th century. The property below the castle (with an archway from 1564), built in the 16th century but since rebuilt several times, was the farmyard or the outer bailey. A (reconstructed) building east of the castle is said to have been the sheepfold belonging to the complex. A walled archway dates to 1594.
The castle was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Stones from buildings and defensive walls are said to have been used in the construction of the Jagst bridge, but the complex also still contains large amounts of rubble from collapsed buildings. The endangered keep was secured and made accessible by recent renovation measures. However, the complex is privately owned and not accessible.
Complex+
Apart from the (reconstructed) almost 30-meter-high and almost 9-meter-diameter round keep and a few remains of curtain walls and walls, nothing remains of the complex today. Residential buildings and stables were arranged around the keep, and the ensemble was surrounded by a ring wall. Behind the ring wall was a semicircular neck ditch.
