Hermannsburg Castle

The Hermannsburg was a former hilltop castle located on a natural rock cliff. This cliff was artificially extended to the north by attached dry stone masonry to create a long oval core structure measuring approximately 12 by 22 meters. The complex, classified as a spur castle due to its location, was protected by a section ditch 8 to 10 meters wide and a maximum of 3 meters deep, extending from the north over the west side to the southwest. Individual rock cliffs were situated in front of the core structure plateau to the east and south, and an outer wall 4 to 5 meters wide and 1 to 2 meters high was located in front of the ditch. In 1980, the site was placed under archaeological monument protection.
