The Hoheneybach castle ruin is on the Himmelsfelsen near Geislingen an der Steige-Eybach in Baden-Württemberg. Once a hilltop castle, only modest remnants remain today.

History+

The origins of Hoheneybach Castle lie in the work of the ministerial family of Helfenstein, who erected the structure. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1265. From 1456, it served as the ancestral seat for the Degenfeld family. The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. Although it was presumably still inhabited in 1711, it was definitively classified as a ruin from 1724 onwards.
