The remains of the Castle can be visited

The Homboll castle ruin, also known as Homburg or Altes Schloss, is on a wooded hill near Hilzingen-Binningen in the district of Konstanz. Its origins are shrouded in mystery.

History+

The first documented mention of Homboll Castle dates back to 1423, although the construction of the complex likely occurred around 1400. It is believed to have been an imperial fief and, from 1415, belonged to the younger line of the Lords of Stoffeln. After 1579 and definitively from 1623, ownership passed to the Lords of Hornstein. The castle's destruction is often attributed to the Thirty Years' War, but other sources suggest it was already a ruin by 1561.
