In Morbach-Hunolstein, at approximately 382 meters above sea level, lies the Hunolstein Castle Ruin, once the ancestral seat of the bailiffs of Hunolstein. This hilltop castle in the Hunsrück dates back to the 12th century.

History+

The construction of Hunolstein Castle took place in the 12th century. In 1522, the complex was captured by Franz von Sickingen. The castle suffered its destruction during the Thirty Years' War, leading to its abandonment from 1637 onwards.

The Hunolstein Castle Ruin is located in the Hunolstein district of the municipality of Morbach, in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
