Ibm Castle

Wichart de Idina, first documented in 1070, is the first known representative of the Ibm family. The family died out around 1280. Ibm was subsequently confiscated and fortified by the Bavarian Duke.

In 1303, the Grams of Uttendorf were enfeoffed with Ibm. In 1379, Egkart Tanner received the castle as a fief. The Tanners remained here until 1450. They were followed by Andreas Loder, who had the castle rebuilt from the ground up. In 1503, Wolf Sonderndorff followed in Ibm. In 1564, Rosina von Sonderndorff received Ibm as a dowry and brought it into her marriage with Hanns Sigmund Jagenrewter von Pernau. In 1575, the castle was renovated and expanded into a palace-like structure. Subsequently, the Counts of Tauffkirchen bought Ibm, remaining owners of the by then dilapidated castle until 1872.

After the Tauffkirchen family, Heinrich Planck von Planckburg followed. He sold Ibm to Ferdinand Freiherr von Moreau. In 1898, Ibm came into bourgeois ownership and in 1915 to a joint-stock company. The castle was allegedly dilapidated since 1816. During the First World War, the ruin was demolished, and the material was reportedly used for road construction. Today, only minor remnants of the surrounding wall are visible. In the terrain, one can still recognize the castle moat and a sunken path leading to the castle.
