The castle ruin Jagdberg is near Schlins in Vorarlberg, an example of medieval architecture. Once the center of a dominion, it now serves as a backdrop for cultural events.

History+

Presumably built in the 12th century, Jagdberg Castle served the Counts of Montfort-Feldkirch as a fortress for the dominion in the Vorderer Walgau, which separated from the County of Feldkirch at the end of the 13th century. In 1397, the complex came under Habsburg rule. On September 28, 1405, it was destroyed during the Appenzell War by the troops of the Bund ob dem See. Although reconstruction began in 1408, the castle was repeatedly burned down in 1440 and 1499 during the Engadin War. Restoration commenced in 1559.
