Jossa Castle

Jossa Castle, also known as Dagsberg, was constructed around 1290 to 1300 by the brothers Gebhard II and Giso IV von Jossa on the Dagsberg. They were the sons of Reinhard I von Jossa and Agnes, a daughter of the noble Konrad II von Bickenbach. After the deaths of Konrad and Guda, Agnes and her sons inherited the Jossa office, which included several localities. On August 4, 1312, the brothers pledged the castle as a fief to Archbishop Peter von Aspelt of Mainz and received it back as a fief, with the obligation to keep it open for the archbishop. After the death of Gebhard II around 1335, his heirs, as well as Giso's widow and son, sold their shares to the Schenken von Erbach.
