Kardhiq Castle (Kalaja e Kardhiqit)
The ruined Kardhiq Castle, also known as Kalaja e Kardhiqit, was once built by the Zenebishi family and stands on a hill in southern Albania.
History+
The origins of Kardhiq Castle date back to the late 14th or early 15th century, when it was constructed by the Zenebishi family. Its first documented mention appears in an Ottoman register from 1431/32. In the early 19th century, the castle underwent extensive restoration under Ali Pasha. The complex is characterized by five towers, two of which have a polygonal shape, similar to other fortifications built by Ali Pasha. The castle walls, featuring turrets, reach a width of approximately 1.70 meters.

Kardhiq Castle ruins are located in the village of Kardhiq, in the Gjirokastra district, within the Gjirokastra region of Albania. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 425 meters above sea level.
