Kargegg Castle
A former spur castle, the Kargegg Castle Ruin, stands on a hill near Allensbach-Langenrain in the district of Konstanz. Its strategic location, with steep slopes towards the Marienschlucht gorge and Lake Constance, and an artificial gorge on another side, makes it a historical testament in Baden-Württemberg.
History+
The origins of Kargegg Castle can be traced back to the 13th century. A pivotal event was its destruction on May 25, 1525, when rebellious peasants set the complex ablaze. Since this incident, the castle remained uninhabited and progressively decayed into a ruin.

Visitors can today explore the remains of the Kargegg Castle Ruin. Of the original complex, the south wall of the residential tower and some barely discernible stone remnants of the curtain wall in the western area are still preserved.
