The Karksi Castle Ruin, once a fortress of the Teutonic Order, now stands in Southern Estonia. Its remains tell of a history.
History+
The origins of Karksi Order Castle date back to the 14th century, when it was erected as a stronghold for the Teutonic Order in this region. From 1470 onwards, the castle served as the official residence of the local commander. However, its fate was sealed during the Great Northern War, when it was extensively destroyed and subsequently not rebuilt.

The Karksi Castle Ruin is located in Karksi-Nuia, within the Karksi parish in Viljandi County, Estonia. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 84 meters above sea level.
