Kindhausen Castle
The Kindhausen Castle Ruin in Bergdietikon, Canton Aargau, is a medieval fortification in Switzerland. As the remains of a hilltop castle, it offers insight into the region's history, even though many details of its past remain obscure.
History+
The construction of Kindhausen Castle is presumed to have taken place towards the end of the 12th century, based on ceramic finds and an arrow iron discovered during excavations in 1936. It is believed that the Lords of Schönenwerd, who served the Counts of Kyburg and later the Habsburgs, were the builders. In the mid-13th century, the castle was destroyed by fire and subsequently abandoned. The associated outbuilding also fell into disrepair shortly thereafter.

Today, only a few preserved wall remnants of Kindhausen Castle are visible, which were uncovered during the excavations in 1936. The ruin is accessible to visitors.
