The remains of the Castle can be visited

The Lordship of Kirchschlag was probably founded around 1180 by Herrand von Wildon. However, the place existed before that. Through the marriage of Gertrud von Wildon to Albero V von Kuenring, Kirchschlag came into the possession of the Kuenringers in 1240. At that time, the castle is likely to have been extensively expanded.
