In Emmendingen, Baden-Württemberg, the Landeck Castle Ruin, a former spur castle, stands on a limestone rock. It is among the well-preserved castle ruins in the Breisgau region.

History+

The origins of Landeck Castle date back to around 1269, when the upper and lower castles were built. As early as 1260, a Dietrich, the bailiff of Landecke, was mentioned as a follower of the Lords of Geroldseck. In 1277, the castle came into the joint possession of the brothers Heinrich and Walther von Geroldseck. Following a siege by Count Egino II of Freiburg and Freiburg citizens in 1298, the castle passed from Heinrich von Geroldseck via the Order of St.
