Laudenbach Castle
The castle ruin Laudenbach is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 210 m above sea level above the church of the Laudenbach district of the city of Karlstadt in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria.
The castle was built around 1150 by the Lords of Hohenlohe, sold in 1291 to Gottfried von Schlüsselberg, then changed owners several times and was enfeoffed several times, until it was abandoned and destroyed in 1525 during the Peasants' War, burned out and not rebuilt.
From 1978 to 1983, the Upper Tower, popularly known as "Dicker Turm" (Fat Tower), was renovated by the city of Karlstadt, which owns the ruin today.

The castle, protected by steep slopes to the northeast and southwest, presumably with a northeastern access, was separated from the mountain by a neck ditch. On the east side behind the church stands a bergfried-like square tower, 18 meters high and 7 meters wide, with ashlar facing, which is connected to the still partially existing curtain wall, where a cellar vault is visible through a hole.
On a western, higher terrace there is another massive square tower, 10 meters high and 7.6 meters wide, with 2-meter thick ashlar walls and overlapping bossed ashlar at the corners.
In front of the main castle, for former protection on the mountain side, lie the remains of a third tower with a round-arched entrance. A 14th-century zwinger and two semi-circular towers embedded in the zwinger wall are still recognizable.
A allotment garden has been laid out in the castle courtyard of the privately owned castle complex.
