Leimburg Castle
The castle ruin Leimburg, also called Leimberg, is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the municipality of Gruibingen at 704.4 m above sea level, above Auendorf, a district of Bad Ditzenbach, in the Göppingen district in Baden-Württemberg. The ruin is located on the 705-meter-high Unterer Leimberg.
The small castle, built in the 12th century by the Knights of Leimberg, who probably originated from the local nobility of Gosbach, and equipped with a residential tower and shield wall, was first mentioned in 1180, later belonged to Ursberg Abbey, and was destroyed in 1533. Only a few wall remains of the castle are still preserved.
