Leimburg Castle
The Leimburg castle ruin, also known as Leimberg, is a hilltop castle ruin situated in the municipality of Gruibingen in the Göppingen district of Baden-Württemberg.
History+
The origins of Leimburg Castle date back to the 12th century. It was built by the Knights of Leimberg, who likely originated from the local nobility of Gosbach. The first documented mention of the small complex, which included a residential tower and a shield wall, dates to 1180. The castle later came into the possession of Ursberg Abbey before being destroyed in 1533.
