Lichteneck Castle
The castle ruin Lichteneck, a hilltop castle ruin, stands above the old town of Ingelfingen in the Kocher Valley.
History+
The origins of Lichteneck Castle date back to approximately 1250, when it was built by Kraft von Boxberg. The castle's demise possibly occurred in 1394 at the hands of Count Eberhard of Württemberg during his campaign against the Schlegler, or alternatively in 1436 during the Wertheim Feud.

Today, about half of the outer walls of Lichteneck castle ruin are still preserved. On the mountain side, the original moat is still visible. Following various storm damages in the past, the masonry was extensively secured in the 1970s.
