The remains of the Castle can be visited

The Liebeneck Castle Ruin, a former high medieval spur castle, stands in the southwest of the Heckengäu. It is situated above the Würm Valley near Pforzheim.

History+

Its origins are presumed to be in the 12th century, but the first written mention dates back to 1236. At that time, the castle and the village of Würm transferred from the Lords of Weißenstein auf Kräheneck to Margrave Rudolf of Baden. Its strategic importance lay in protecting a raft toll station on the river. Later, the castle returned as a hereditary fief to the Lords of Weißenstein before passing into the possession of the Lords Leutrum von Ertingen.
